0-982 is equal parts science-fiction and personal memoir. The story weaves its way, sometimes gracefully, sometimes jarringly, through the lives and experiences of often vaguely connected characters. As the last “un-fractured” candidate for a deep space exploration program, 0-982 begins to experience the psychological fallout of rigorous captaincy training and slowly dissolves mentally. As they do, their psychobabble, which drifts between childhood memories, pure nonsense, and philosophical musings, shape the narrative of not only their own story, but others as well. In their graceful, though nonetheless downward plunge, we shift between various existences and time frames with an ever-increasing sense of urgency. As 0-982 unravels, the other stories become clearer and blossom, taking on lives of their own.
